Roe doe and Barn owl on canal

Monday 19 June, alongside Aldcliffe Road by a dried up waterhole, sat a roe doe very calmly chewing. She watched me and I watched her through binoculars.  Very unconcerned about me or the noise from the road.  I went for a walk round Pony Wood and checked when I can back and she was still there doing her toilette.

Also the same evening saw a Barn owl hunting alongside the canal at the point where the slope goes up to Ashton Road.  It flew around the area that has just had permission refused for 70 houses – a fitting celebration!
