Flora Field hare

I went out for a quick look at the arable field about 6.30pm last night. Lovely bright evening once the rain had cleared, but there appeared to be nothing doing apart from a wood pigeon and a bird calling loudly in a poor imitation of a lapwing over towards Lower Sowerholme. (Bird calls are another area of ignorance!) Suddenly I heard a voice from over on the towpath: “Is that a rabbit or a hare?” The latter of course, once I’d got my binoculars in the right place. The hare was sat amongst the wheat, ears erect, on the slope just above the strange ruin. I briefly looked away, and it vanished. Think it must have ducked down into the crop.
